The 2025 WCFA Fall Conference is done and wrapped. Well not quite wrapped, there are still a few bills to pay.
It was quite a year trying to organize everything. New venue, new hotel, new food services, new fun night casino! Most of the early spring was spent trying to decide whether to stay at Heritage Park, with dates we didn’t really like or go someplace else. The someplace else turned out to be the Agricultural Barn at the Abbotsford Fair Grounds. At first we considered having everything in one building, but the Fire Marshall wouldn’t allow that. Luckily the open pole barn was right next door and that worked out beautifully.
Next was planning the food. Usually the hotel did that, but this year the committee was on the phone to caterers, event planners, food trucks, bartenders, and fast food restaurants (Saturday’s AGM breakfast)
After a few other glitches it all came together and I think that a good time was had by everyone. A lot of congratulations go to Jamie Poulos, Rick Higginson, John Dixon, Scott Brewer, Kelly Hartley, James Findler, Iain Ritchie, and Mary Blackstock.
I hope that everyone will look forward to next year’s conference – the arena is already booked –
